The Paschal Mystery consists of four key events that form the core of the Christian faith. It encompasses the entirety of how salvation was won through Jesus Christ.
The Four Pillars
- Passion: Jesus’s suffering and trial, representing his ultimate sacrifice for humanity.
- Death: His crucifixion, which the Catechism describes as the “fullness of time” where he took on the sins of the world.
- Resurrection: The central event where Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and opening the way to eternal life.
- Ascension: His return to the Father in heaven, where he remains as the high priest interceding for us.
